Search Instructions

To find a horse, simply put in the name or registration number of the horse in the 'Search For' field. You can enter in part of a name, or even part of a word (if you don't know the exact spelling), and the program will find all horses that match. In addition, you can also put in the name of an owner, and all horses that the owner has owned (past or present) will be displayed.

You can use the options in the 'Filters' section to further refine your search as follows:

Gender
The gender of the horse. Choose mares, stallions, and geldings. By default, all genders are shown.
Search In
Choose the fields that you would like to search for the text you entered into the 'Search For' field in.
Deceased Status
Do you want to search for living horses only (the default), or do you also want to search for horses that are deceased. There are two options for deceased horses that need a bit of explanation. The 'Deceased' option means that the association has received an official report from the owner that the horse is deceased. The 'Assumed Deceased' option means that the horse is old enough (over thirty years old) that we assume that it is deceased. If you are having problems finding a horse, try checking this option in case the horse has been assumed deceased when it's still alive and kicking.
Registry
You can use this to limit registry to search in. This can be useful when you don't want to see horses that have been entered for historical reasons.
Breed
The breed of the horses to display. Note that this is only useful for associations that register multiple breeds, or have a breeding up program.
Color
The color of the horse. Note that this is an exact match; you can also put a color in the 'Search For' field, and if there are colors listed in the description of the horse, you may be able to get finer results.
Country Currently Located In
This will filter by the country that the horse is currently located in; this is the country that the last owner of the horse lives in.
State or Territory Currently Located In
This will filter by the state or territory that the horse is currently located in; this is the country that the last owner of the horse lives in. Note that this filter is not very smart - you could choose 'Canada' for a country, and 'Washington' for a state, and nothing (should) be found.
